Indio is a city that loves to celebrate music, art and the varied cultures of its residents. Numerous festivals are held throughout the year, such as the National Date Festival, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the Southwest Art Festival, the Indio International Salsa Festival, the Indio International Tamale Festival, the Indio Desert Circuit Horse Show, and twice-a-year Indio Powwows. Night life, great dining and Las Vegas-style gambling are available at several local casinos.
Schools and Colleges
The well-regarded Desert Sands Unified School District will serve Mountain Estates. Many of the district’s graduates go on to the two-year College of the Desert in Palm Desert. Additionally, several four-year institutions are within easy reach, including the University of California at Riverside and Cal State University, San Bernardino.
